Boeding hits six 3-pointers in Crusaders win

RIVERSIDE - Holy Trinity Catholic senior Taylor Boeding found her long distance range connecting on six 3-pointers ias the Crusaders downed Highland of Riverside 56-51 to highlight girls basketball action Thursday night.

The Lady Huskies staged a strong comeback in the last minute cutting a 10-point lead in half to five before running out of time in the Southeast Superconference north/south matchup.

Boeding hit all six of her longballs in the first half, while junior Ashlynn Haas fired in three 3-pointers of her own in the first half as HTC raced out to 34-28 lead at the half. Highland switched up on defense and contained Boeding in the second half allowing the senior just two free throws in the final two quarters for 20 points on the night to lead all scorers.

Senior Emily Box took over in the second half when Highland focused on stopping the hot perimeter shooting of Boeding and Haas allowing Box to score in the paint. Box put up 14 of her 15 points on the night in the second half.

Haas finished with nine points on the night and junior Avery Hopper had eight. Sophomore Claire Pothitakis scored three and senior Mya Lawlor added one to round out the scoring for Holy Trinity.

Seniors Sara Schneider and Alyson Stokes each had 15 for Highland.

The Lady Crusaders are 2-1 on the season and have one two straight and will open home play on Saturday with a matchup against Superconference North foe Mediapolis.
