Hound matmen blow out Bulldogs

MEDIAPOLIS – FMHS wrestlers took advantage of nine forfeits enroute to a 78-6 dual win over Mediapolis on Thursday night.

Fifth-ranked Sam Hayes won again pinning Daniel Hightower at 1:39. Junior Danen Settles also won by pin at 5:04 at 285 over the Bulldogs’ Brennan Breuer. The Bloodhounds Quinton Ross pinned Mepo’s  Lucas Wagenbach at the 3:12 mark and Keaton Poe pinned Josh Darbyshire at 2:53.

Mediapolis’s only points of the night came when Quinten Aney pinned Elton Kruse at 2:23.

The meet was originally scheduled as a triangular with Mediapolis and Iowa City Liberty, but Liberty pulled out of the meet last week.

The Hounds travel to Pontiac, Illinois on Friday for this weekend’s Pontiac Invitational.
