FORT MADISON - The following is a list of events and happenings going on in Fort Madison as submitted to the Pen City Current.

Downtown Enchanted Forest

The Fort Madison downtown Enchanted Forest will be open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lee County Bank Building at 803 Avenue G on Dec. 8, 15, and 22, with visits with Santa from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Community Blood Drives

The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will be holding a blood drive on Dec. 7 at FMHS from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Dec. 8 at Cultural Hall- 2193 Old Denmark Road from 8-10:30 a.m.

Winter Spectacular

The Fort Madison High School Winter Spectacular will take place on Sunday, Dec. 9 with doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the show beginning at 2 p.m. Free admission, but preferred seating is available for a donation. Refreshments will be provided. Contact FMHS at 372-1862 for more information.

FMCH Health Education Series

Fort Madison Community Hospital will be hosting the first in a monthly community health education series on Dec. 11 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at FMCH in the Business Center Conference Rooms. Dr. Yadira Garcia will lead the discussion. Light refreshments will be served.

Tree of Love Gatherings

The Lee County Health Department is hosting a series of gatherings to help with holiday healing after a loss. The remaining events are on Wednesday Dec. 12, and 19th from 2 to 3 p.m. at 3 John Bennett Drive in Fort Madison.

Santa at the FM YMCA

The Fort Madison YMCA will be hosting a Cookies and Cocoa with Santa on Saturday Dec. 15 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Be ready to play some Reindeer Games, too.

Senior Community BINGO at The Kensington

Each month on the second Wednesday of the month, The Kensington hosts Senior Community BINGO at 2 p.m. in their dining room at 2210 Avenue H in Fort Madison. All seniors are welcome and cash prizes are awarded.

Caregivers Connection at The Kensington

The Kensington hosts this monthly gathering to help educate attendees about all dementia types. Held at noon the 4th Tuesday of every month in The Kensington’s private dining room, 2210 Avenue H in Fort Madison. Call 319-372-4233 to RSVP or for more information. The December luncheon will not be held due to the Christmas holiday. The next luncheon will be held January 22, 2019.

LCHD Senior Health Clinic

The Lee County Health Department will be holding two senior health clinics this week. The first will be from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Mississippi Terrace in Keokuk on Dec. 11 and another on Dec. 12 at the Hillview Village in Fort Madison from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Fort Madison Day at Carver-Hawkeye Arena

Tickets are now on sale for the Iowa vs. Bryant University on Dec. 29, 2018 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Fort Madison Partners office at 614 9th Street through Dec. 13. Prices are $15 for adults, $10 for youth and $5 if you want to ride a Trailways Bus to the game.

Council of Churches offers "Singspiration"

The Mid-Lee County Council of Churches presents the program Good News Singspiration "What Happened in Bethlehem...DIDN'T STAY in Bethlehem" on December 16, 2018, beginning at 4 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church of Christ 401 Maple in Donnellson. Fellowship and a light meal of maidrites, cheese and crackers, raw vegetables with dip, and cookies will follow the program. A free-will offering will be taken to support the benevolent ministries of the council.
