FORT MADISON - In 2017 Samantha and Nicole Pothitakis, twins from Fort Madison, wanted to help others during the holiday season. They decided to help to bring some warmth to others through sharing. This year they are back again with their Share-A-Scarf, Wear-A-Scarf. The juniors from Holy Trinity Catholic High School purchased a number of scarfs and tagged them all with a bible verse and the Share-A-Scarf, Wear-A-Scarf label and tied them around trees at Central Park in Fort Madison.

Last year they gave away over 100 scarfs.

“We couldn’t believe the need in our community,” Samantha said.

What was even more exciting to the girls was the feedback from those that were able to make great use of the

scarfs.

“Some used them as gifts to those in need, some used them for friends that needed a scarf, and some used them for kids they knew that could use some extra warmth for the cold

winter season”, Nicole said.

“The scarfs are there for anyone that needs one or knows someone that needs one. Just stop by and pick a color and grab one. It’s perfect for those that may not have enough warm winter

wear.” Samantha indicated that they check in on the park to see if the scarfs are getting low as they like to try to put more up when needed and when the scarfs get low.
