Gearldine Faye “Gerry” Hawk, 74 of Montrose, IA died Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital in Ft. Madison, IA.

She was born September 9, 1944 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Gardner C. and Ruth Marshall Link. On August 8, 1986 she was united in marriage to David Hawk in Donnellson, IA. He survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Joann Barkalow of Newton, IA, Jill Hawk of Ft. Madison, IA and Jody Whitmore of Burlington, IA, two step-sons, Scott Hawk of Princeton, MO and Corey Hawk of Keokuk, IA, one step-daughter, Shelly Hawk of rural Donnellson, IA, five grandchildren, Derek Niggemeyer, Jenna Weyant, Jordan Hawk and Madison and Taylor Bunton, seven step-grandchildren, Bryce and Page Hawk, Kassey, Dexter and Creighton Merschbrock, Katie Cale and Trenton Hawk, thirteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Darlene Haage of Argyle, IA and one brother, Rodney Link (Lena) of Argyle, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John, Larry and Ralph Link and one sister, Arlene Glines.

Gerry graduated from Central Lee High School in Donnellson, IA with the Class of 1962.

She had been employed by Ft. Madison Community Hospital as a receptionist for seven years. She had also been employed through the years by The Avenue and Under the Sun, both in Ft. Madison, IA.

Gerry was a member of the Montrose Nazarene Church in Montrose, IA.

Gerry enjoyed socializing with her neighbors and visiting with friends over a cup of coffee at McDonald’s. She had a huge heart and was always willing to help others. Gerry adored her grandchildren. The time she spent with them was priceless and the memories that were made will live on in their hearts forever.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Preston Smith Officiating. Burial will be in the Donnell Cemetery in Donnellson, IA.

Visitation will be held after 1 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home with family meeting with friends from 6-8 p.m.
