HTC jayvee knocks off New London, VB

NEW LONDON - The Holy Trinity Junior varsity boys basketball team knocked off New London at New London last Thursday behind 12 points from Chandler Rung.

Rung converted four field goals and went 4-of-6 from the free throw line for the dozen. The Crusaders had two others in double figures with Jason Thurman putting in 11 and Vasin Thurman scoring 10 points in the 49-44 win.

Cole Thurman put in six points, while Garrett Hannum and Kadin Medland each scored five points for HTC. The Crusaders trailed 17-19 with just under a minute left in the 2nd quarter before going on a 4-0 run in before the buzzer to hold a 21-19 lead going into the locker room.

The two teams were tied at 33-33 and 35-35 with less than four minutes left in the game before Holy Trinity pulled away for the win.

On Monday, the Crusaders downed Van Buren 47-37 with the Thurman twins putting up 15 points a piece in the win. Aside from being down 2-0 with six minutes left in the first quarter, HTC lead the whole way holding a 30-11 halftime lead after allowing the Warriors just two points in the second period.

Hannum and Rung each had six on the night for HTC. Medland and Mikey DiPrima had three and two points respectively to round out the scoring for HTC.
