George L. Ash, 86, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at The Kensington. He was born on September 28, 1932 in Pontoosuc, IL to Charlie & Susie West Ash. He married Frances H. Dougherty on May 5, 1956 in Burlington, IA. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2014. He started his military career in the U.S. Air Force and spent the rest of his career of 25 years in the U.S. Army. He worked in law enforcement following his retirement from the military. He was a Master Mason and member of the Masonic Lodge #7 AF & AM in Junction City, KS & Peter M. Rasmussen Lodge #916 in Worms, Germany for many years.

George is survived by: 7-grandchildren; several great grandchildren & great great grandchildren & 1-sister: Laneta Bernhart of Fort Madison, IA. He was preceded in death by: his parents, his wife, 3-step daughters & 10-siblings.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A private burial will be held at Forest Home Cemetery in Mt.
