Ronald David “Ron” Kutzner, 64 of Keokuk, IA died Monday, December 17, 2018.

He was the son of Ronald Keith and Mabel Ann Thornsberry Kutzner and was raised by his grandparents, Alfred and Vercie Thornsberry. On November 26, 1976 he was united in marriage to Barb Shinn in Keokuk. She survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Amy (Jim Mehsling) of Des Moines, IA, one sister, Kathy McCartney of Keokuk, two brothers-in-law, Paul Shinn (Alice) of Montrose, IA and Monk Shinn of Keokuk, five sisters-in-law, Connie Davis (Moe) of Keokuk, Judy Schmitt of Keokuk, Tammy Wilson (Steve) of Fort Wayne, IN, Peggy Duke (Earl) of Keokuk and Debbie Pezley (John) of Keokuk, and one special uncle, Wayne Thornberry (Judy) of Cantril, IA.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, three brothers-in-law, Tony Schmitt, Dan McCartney and Don Shinn and his parents-in-law, Lloyd and Lois Shinn.

Ron graduated from Van Buren High School with the Class of 1972. He later attended Southeastern Community College in Keokuk.

He had been employed by Principal Financial in Keokuk as a senior agent for thirty-three years.

Ron enjoyed riding his Harley, going fishing, and attending car shows. He loved golfing and had made six holes in one in his lifetime. He liked trapshooting and had shot a perfect 100 straight. Ron also liked traveling to Sturgis and going on golf trips with his buddies. He enjoyed a good game of Craps and always played to win. Ron took pride in maintaining his yard and spent many hours to make it immaculate. He loved animals and made room for a number of family pets over the years.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Mike Shea officiating.

Visitation will be held after 1 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home with family meeting with friends from 6-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Every Step Hospice or the Keokuk Animal Shelter.
