MT. PLEASANT - You had to go back to Miles Wentzien's senior year in 2015 to find a Fort Madison boys basketball win over Mt. Pleasant.

And the streak almost continued Friday night, but the Bloodhounds wiped out a four-point deficit with just two minutes to play, and then put up six points in the final minute to escape Mt. Pleasant High School with a 56-55 conference win Friday night.

The win helps Fort Madison to 2-1 record in the conference after falling to Washington 73-60 on Tuesday. They defeated Keokuk in overtime back on November 30.

The game was nip and tuck for almost the full 32 minutes with Mt. Pleasant holding the largest lead of the game at 44-37 with just over six minutes to play. The Hounds trailed at the end of every quarter... except the fourth.

Junior Jayden Fedler again led a group of Hounds in double figures with 15 points. Fedler even stepped out and hit a 3-ball in the first half, when most of his scoring typically takes place under the basket.

Senior Logan Rashid hit two 3-pointers, one in each half to finish with 12 on the night, while junior Parker Denning had 11 and freshman Dayton Davis pitched in with 10. Junior Brandon Keester rounded out the scoring with eight points on the night.

Fedler is averaging right at 16 points per game on the season and about six boards, while Rashid is at 12 points. Keester and Davis are both just under seven per game on the season.

The Bloodhounds move to 4-5 on the season and are off for the break until Jan. 4, when the play host to conference front-runner Fairfield.

In the junior varsity contest, Miles Dear put up 22 points, but the Hounds fell to the Mt. Pleasant 71-58.
