HTC junior high girls finish with split at WACO

WEST POINT - The Holy Trinity Catholic 8th grade girls finished the season even at 6-6 with a 29-27 loss to WACO at home Thursday before the holiday break.

Mary Hellige led the Crusaders with nine points. Jenna Hellman and Kayla Box both had six in the loss. Brooke Mueller added four points and Alexa Dingman chipped in with two.

The girls also dropped a close 31-30 game to New London on Dec. 17 on the road. Hellige again paced the Crusaders with 18 points. Dingman had six, Mueller had four and Box added 2.

The seventh grade girls finished the season perfect at 12-0. The Crusaders rolled over WACO 35-7 with Mary Kate Bendlage firing in 18 points to lead HTC. Taegan Denning and Natalie Randolph both had eight. Jenna Hellman, Breanna Peterson and Reagan Holvoet each added two points to close out the season.

At New London, the HTC seventh graders won 35-11. Peterson and Randolph led the way with eight points each. Bendlage had seven, Holvoet chipping with six, and Hellman, Strickland and Denning each had two points to round out the scoring for Holy Trinity.
