Susan Jane Campbell, 74 of Hamilton, IL died Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Carthage, IL.

She was born January 31, 1944 in Albany, OR the daughter of F. Vernon and Janet Alexander Zetterman. Susan married Al Campbell on July 21, 1967 in Oakland, NE. They celebrated fifty-one years of marriage together. He survives.

CAMPBELL

Susan graduated from Oakland High School in Oakland, NE with the Class of 1962. She continued her education at Midland Lutheran College in Freemont, NE and received her Bachelor of Arts in education. Susan was a teacher for thirty-two years, the last twenty at Hamilton Elementary School. Susan was the recipient of the Golden Apple Teaching award. She retired from teaching in 2004.

Susan was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Questers and PEO for fifty-six years. She was also a member of the Keokuk Yacht Club and the Southside Boat Club.

Susan loved spending time outdoors and sitting on her porch watching the wildlife. She loved gardening and watching the birds, especially the bald eagle. Susan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and she enjoyed the family gatherings. Susan was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, especially volleyball.

Other survivors include one daughter, Laura Rockey (Matt) of Island Lake, IL, one son, Matt Campbell (Kelly) of Keokuk, IA, four grandchildren, Ryan and Gavin Rockey and Sullivan and Reese Campbell, two brothers, John Zetterman (Cindy) of Lincoln, NE and Bill Zetterman (Barb) of Lincoln, NE, one sister, Sarah Volker (Lin) of Humboldt, NE and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Paul Teich, a step-sister, Nancy Teich and a nephew, Adam Zetterman.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Hamilton, IL with Pastors Bob Wagner and Dawn Butler officiating. A private family burial will be held in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Keokuk, IA.

Visitation will be held prior to the service for family and friends from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
