Janis J. Carter, 87, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Montebello Health Care Center in Hamilton, IL. She was born on October 30, 1931 in Fort Madison, IA to Sena “Frank” & Anna Knoch Worman. She married Robert F. Carter IV on April 15, 1952 in Kahoka, MO. She was a member of the Living Hope Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed her cats, cooking, cookbooks, singing and listening to her husband Bob sing to her.

Janis is survived by: 1-daughter: Candice Carter of Glenwood, IA; 4-sons: David (Emily) Carter of Quincy, IL, Steven (Monica) Carter of Fort Madison, IA, Greg Carter of Iowa City, IA & Jaydee Carter of Fort Madison, IA; 10-grandchildren & 13-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, 3-brothers & 1-sister.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with the funeral service to immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. John Roberts officiating. A private family burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Living Hope Church of the Nazarene or Special Olympics.
