Delores E. Shoemate, 86, of Dallas City, IL passed away at 2:15 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital, Fort Madison, IA.
She was born on August 28, 1932 in Smithshire, IL the daughter of James A. and Mildred Paul Krow Sr. On October 25, 1951 she married John H. Shoemate in LaHarpe, IL. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2002.
SHOEMATE
Delores enjoyed cooking, embroidery, filling out number books and especially enjoyed visiting with friends and spending time with family. She was a loyal Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Newberry of Dallas City, three sons, Jeffrey (Becky) Shoemate of Fort Madison, James (Teresa) Shoemate of Burlington, IA and John (Angela Schroeder) Shoemate of Fort Madison, five grandchildren, Lowell Newberry, Kandi Jo Newberry, Jessica (Alan) Menke, Samantha Shoemate and Gracie Shoemate, five great-grandchildren and one on the way, one brother, Richard Krow of Dallas City, one sister, Bertha Blindt of Biggsville, IL and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Sally Luder, son-in-law, Steve Newberry, two brothers, James Jr. and Harold Krow and one sister, Betty Kennebeck.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Larry Mencshel and Rev. Jim Luder officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery, Dallas City. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Banks & Beals where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established from the John Shoemate Memorial Kids Fishing Tournament or the Dallas City Disc Golf League.
