FMMS girls open season with wins

The Fort Madison 7th grade girl's basketball teams opened up their season with two wins over Edward Stone Thursday night.

In the A game, Fort Madison won 39-4. Aija Jenkins led all scorers with 11 points, followed by Taylor Johnson with 10 points, and Gracie Blind with eight points. Madelyn Gobble contributed four points and Lauryn Helmick, Ellanore Wright, and Ieisha Coleman each pitched in two points. Jenkins added four steals and Johnson led in rebounds with five.

Fort Madison’s A team moves to 1-0 on the season and plays at Fairfield on Monday.

The Fort Madison B team won by a score of 17-15. Ieisha Coleman led in scoring with seven points. Paetyn Wiegand and Haley Lampe each tossed in four points, while Amy Yasenchok chipped in with two points. Yasenchok led in steals with four.

With the win, Fort Madison’s B team moves to 1-0 and plays at Fairfield on Monday.
