Martha Jean Butler, 68, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Fort Madison Community Hospital, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on August 29, 1950 in

Kansas City, MO to John “Jack” & Rosemary McCabe Nagel. She married Monte J. Butler on June 21, 1969 at Sacred Heart Church in Fort Madison, IA. She was a scheduler/planner at Silgan Container Company for 38 years. Her greatest love was her children & grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to the beach.

Martha is survived by: her husband: Monte Butler of Fort Madison, IA; 2-sons: Matthew (Melody Dworak) Butler of Iowa City, IA & Nicholas Butler of Coralville, IA; 1-daughter: Abbey (Devlin) Guzman of Fort Madison, IA; 3-grandchildren: Kailyn Guzman, Marcus Guzman & Sebastian Butler; 2-sisters: Mary Ann (George) Gaudette of Fort Madison, IA & Peggy (Hiroshi) Shibuya of Sapporo-shi, Japan; 2-brothers: Tom (Deb) Nagel of Donnellson, IA & Jim Nagel of Fort Madison, IA; several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Shriner’s Hospital.
