FMMS 7th grade girls down Fairfield

FORT MADISON – The Fort Madison 7th grade girls basketball team defeated Fairfield 30-24 in the A game Monday night in Fairfield.

Aija Jenkins led all scorers with 13 points, followed by Taylor Johnson with eight points. Madelyn Gobble, Lauryn Helmick, Ellanore Wright, and Gracie Blind each pitched in two points.

Helmick added four assist and four steals. Johnson led in rebounds with 10 and Jenkins added seven.

Fort Madison’s A team moves to 2-0 on the season and plays at Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday.

The Fort Madison B team won by a score of 8-4.

Ieisha Coleman led in scoring with six points and Haley Lampe chipped in with two. Amy Yasenchok and Ali Carson contributed three steals. Lampe led in rebounds with four. With the win, Fort Madison’s B team moves to 2-0 and also plays at Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday.
