DANVILLE - The Holy Trinity girls basketball team had everything going it's way for most of the night in a 55-20 win over Louisa-Muscatine Friday night as part of the Southeast Iowa Superconference girls Shootout.

The Shootout pits the SEISC North and South division teams against each other in a ladder style one-game format. The teams with the best records play each other, while the teams with the second best records in the north and south play each other, all the way down the list at different locations around southeast Iowa.

Holy Trinity and L-M were both in sixth place in their respective divisions and faced off in Danville. However, the Crusaders seem to be peaking at the right time having won five in a row and six of their last eight.

Senior Taylor Boeding hit five 3-balls again for HTC, to lead the Crusaders with 17 points on the night. She leads the SEISC South with 51 made threes on the year, shooting 35% from the arc.

She's third overall in both divisions. Mediapolis' Maya Johnson has connected on 91 and shoots a whopping 47% from 3-point land. Boeding is in the top 5 in Class 1A in the state.

The Crusaders raced out to 15-3 first quarter lead Friday with six points each from senior Emily Box and Boeding. The Crusaders then held L-M scoreless in the 2nd quarter, racing to a 36-6 first half lead.

Junior Ashlynn Haas took over the second quarter leading the Crusaders with six points and Boeding had five.

Head Coach Tony Johnson gave the bench some work in the fourth quarter with Holy Trinity comfortably in front 51-13 after three quarters, and ended with nine girls scoring on the night.

"I was surprised we did so well after no basketball for a week," Johnson said. "I was glad to see the girls could refocus and play well."

Box finished with 14 points, followed by Haas with nine. Freshman Kassi Randolph had four points, with both buckets coming in the second half. Junior Avery Hopper and sophomore Bailey Hellweg each added three. Senior Mya Lawlor and sophomore Claire Pothitakis had two points and Eryn Anderson added a point to round out the scoring for HTC.

McKenna Hohenadel, just a freshman, led L-M with nine points.

The Crusaders are 11-5 on the year and 7-4 in a tough SEISC South division that has five teams in double digit wins with Van Buren and Central Lee ranked in the top 15 teams in the state in their respective classes.

The Crusaders are playing a make up with WACO tonight (Sat. Jan. 26th) Both junior varsity and varsity girls will play, but the junior varsity will only play two quarters, starting at 3 p.m.

Holy Trinity travels to Van Buren on Monday night in a girls/boys varsity matchup.
