Bloodhound boys can't catch Demons

WASHINGTON - Fort Madison spotted Washington a three-point first quarter lead and couldn't find the streak to catch the hosts falling 73-64 Friday night.

The Hounds (7-11) on the season, got 19 points from senior Logan Rashid and had two others in double figures, but couldn't catch a rally to get past the Demons.

Trailing just three at 14-11 going into the second quarter, the Demons stretched the lead to 32-25 behind junior Ethan Hunt's nine points. Senior Brandon Keester kept the Hounds within reach with a couple of 3-balls in the second period, but Fort Madison couldn't cut into Washington's lead.

Both teams picked up the pace in the second half with Washington putting up 41 including 26 in the final period, led by Trevor Quigley's 11 points.

Fort Madison got nine points in the fourth quarter from freshman Dayton Davis and Rashid. Senior Jayden Fedler had six in the final period.

Davis finished with 16 points, while Fedler hit for 13, eight in the second half. Keester finished with six points. Senior Jordyn Gerdes had four points while Parker Denning and Mike Mosena each added three points to round out the scoring for Fort Madison.

Washington had four players in double figures led by Trashaun Willis with 15 points.

Fort Madison travels to Burlington on Monday and then turns around and hosts Davis County on Tuesday at the HoundDome. District seeding meetings for regional action takes place on Wednesday.
