Virgil H. Hellige, 65, of Ft. Madison passed away at 8:14 AM on Wednesday, February 06, 2019 at his home.

HELLIGE

He was born on July 10, 1953 in Ft. Madison to Henry and Dorothy Nolte Hellige. On November 24, 1984 he married Jeanne Klesener in Nauvoo. Virgil worked at ISP and retired after twenty-nine years of service. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, The Moose and The Izaak Walton League. Virgil enjoyed hunting, fishing, bingo and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Hellige of Ft. Madison; his children, Mike (Mary) Hellige, Susan (David) Jeffries and Sarah (BJ) Pohlpeter, all of Ft. Madison; six grandchildren, Madison, Connor, Mason, Tanner, Wesley and Benjamin; one brother, Arnold Hellige of Hannibal; four sisters, Mary Wenke of Donnellson, Rosie Becker of Farmington, Pauline Smith of Kahoka, and Genevieve Martin of Venice, FL; mother and father in law, Dennis and Barb Klesener of Nauvoo and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin grandsons, Emmett and Wyatt Jeffries and a brother in law, Randy Klesener.

The funeral mass will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Ss. Mary & Joseph Church with Rev. Joseph Phung officiating. The family will meet with friends on Friday from 4:30 PM-6:30 PM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
