BURLINGTON - Anna Kester and Braxtyn McGhghy led the Fort Madison Lady Hounds with 11 points in a 46-40 loss to the Burlington on Monday night.

The Hounds managed just two points in the opening period, but strong defensive play also limited the Grayhounds to just five points in the period.

It was the second period that did Fort Madison in. Trailing just 7-6 in the opening moments of the second quarter, Burlington's girls went on a 16-7 run and at one point Fort Madison was held scoreless for four minutes to trail 26-14 at the half.

Fort Madison wasn't able to cut into the lead in the third quarter and still trailed by a dozen at 34-22 going into the final period.

With three minutes remaining, the Bloodhounds scored seven points in less than a minute to get back in the game trailing by just two points with two minutes left, 42-40.

However, the rally would cool in the final two minutes as Burlington held the Hounds scoreless the rest of the way.

Sophomore Brandy Walker had eight points on the night, six in the third period. Kester put up seven of her 11 in the final period to help the Hounds make a game of it.

Senior Eleesha Estrada had six points in the game, while sophomores Maddie Rashid and Kylee Cashman each added two to round out the scoring.
