FORT MADISON - The following is a list of events and happenings going on in Fort Madison as submitted to the Pen City Current.

Free Movie sponsored by Kiwanis

The Fort Madison Kiwanis are sponsoring a FREE MOVIE on Sat. Feb. 9 beginning at 2 p.m. Everyone in attendance will receive a free ticket, a drink and popcorn. They were also be a Lego kit raffled off at the event.

Winning the Game

The Iowa State Extension and Iowa Farm Bureau are sponsoring a workshop on launching a 2019 Pre-Harvest Marketing plan at the Learning Center on the Lee County Fairgrounds in Donnellson on Feb. 11th at 6 p.m. Preregistering is encouraged at www.iowafarmbureau.com

FMCH Community Health Education Series

Dr. Josh Sirucek, Family Practice and Sports Medicine will host a seminar on Exploring Lower Back Pain Tuesday, Feb. 12, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the FMCH Conferenc rooms. Call 376-2244 to RSVP and for more information.

Evening with Chuck Long

Former Iowa standout and NFL quarterback Chuck Long will be at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course on Tuesday, Feb. 12 for presentation, including a social hour and dinner with doors opening at 4:30. The social hour and dinner will be from 5 to 6 and Long will speak at 6 p.m. with a question and answer to follow. Comedy night at the Elks

Comedy night featuring Tim Sullivan and headliner Homer Shadowheart has been moved to Friday Feb. 15th. Showtime is 8:30 p.m.

Legislative Luncheon

Fort Madison Partners is sponsoring a legislative luncheon on Feb. 15 at The Palms in Fort Madison. The lunches begin at noon and last for one hour.

Gal-entines Party at The Kensington

On Tuesday Feb. 19, the Kensington will host a Galentines Party from 4:30 to 6 p.m. with win, food, fashions and sweet treats.

K9 Association fundraiser

Sunnybrook will be holding a lunch meatloaf fundraiser for the Lee County K9 Association on Thursday, Feb. 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $6 dine-in or carryout and $8 delivery. For more information call 319-372-8611.

STEMFest at SCC

The annual Southeast Iowa STEMFest is set for Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Southeastern Community College. Check out exhibits, hands-on activities involving Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Prizes and free stuff.

St. Patrick's Day celebration

The Fort Madison Chamber of Commerce will be holding a St. Patrick's Day celebration on March 16 including a parade, games, music and fun. Parade entry forms are available by contact the Chamber at 319-372-5471.

Local artist on display at SCC

Lori Illner Greene will have her art work on display at the Southeastern Community College Art Gallery, 1500 W. Agency Road in West Burlington from Jan. 28-Feb. 15. The gallery showing will feature her "Raptors and Other Birds of Prey" series.

Fort Madison Partners Annual Dinner

The Fort Madison Partners Annual Dinner will be held Feb. 22 at McAleere Hall in Fort Madison. A night of gaming, food and fun has been planned. Contact Partners at 372-5471 for more information.

United Way's Free Nutrition Class

The United Way of the Great River Region in conjunction it RSVP program is offering a free nutrition class on Feb. 13, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m at the United Way Resource Center 3421 Avenue L. Call 319-372-8043 to register.

Ribbon-Cutting

A ribbon cutting for The Kingsley Inn and River Rocks Bar & Grille will be held on Feb. 15 at 10 a.m.

Senior Community BINGO at The Kensington

Each month on the second Wednesday of the month, The Kensington hosts Senior Community BINGO at 2 p.m. in their dining room at 2210 Avenue H in Fort Madison. All seniors are welcome and cash prizes are awarded.

Caregivers Connection at The Kensington

The Kensington hosts this monthly gathering to help educate attendees about all dementia types. Held at noon the 4th Tuesday of every month in The Kensington’s private dining room, 2210 Avenue H in Fort Madison. Call 319-372-4233 to RSVP or for more information. The next luncheon will be held January 22, 2019.
