SALEM – Pilot Grove Savings Bank donated $2,500 toSalem Fire & Rescue Association, INC. Funds will be used towards the purchase of a new tank and pump for their brush truck and replace the one that is 20 years old.

“We thank the bank for the donation because it’s through donations like these that new purchases are possible for the fire department, " Salem Chief Steve Nichting said.

The Salem Fire Department received a grant from Trans Canada Pipeline for $7,500 of the $15,140 total cost needed to replace the old one.  To raise additional funds the department is holding a spaghetti supper and auction on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Salem Community Center.  The organization is asking for free will donations for the spaghetti supper; food will be served from 5:00-7:00 PM, and the auction will begin at 6:00 PM.

“Pilot Grove Savings Bank is pleased to be a part of this important effort to enhance the capabilities of the  Salem Fire & Rescue Association.  The large number of customers in the area made the decision to contribute to this specialized fire truck easy,” commented Bob Breazeale, Executive Vice President of Pilot Grove Savings Bank. “Hopefully it will not be needed frequently, but it is comforting to know that we’ll be ready to go at a moment’s notice.  The dedicated efforts of the volunteers of the fire department to protect local homes and farms is certainly appreciated.
