Mr. Dennis Lee Huffman, 68, of Lomax, IL, passed away at 4:56 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at his home.
Dennis was born on April 19, 1950 in Burlington, IA, the son of John Harvey and Hazel Idell Bennett Huffman. On August 3, 1975 he married Sandra Rae Ferguson in Burlington. She survives.
Mr. Huffman was a graduate of the Burlington High School. Following high school he served in the United States Navy from 1969 - 1973. Dennis then worked for J.I. Case in Burlington for several years, retiring in 2004. He served on the Lomax Fire Department for 30 years and also served as an EMT on the Lomax Ambulance. Dennis was a Director on the McDonough Telephone Co-Op Board for 25 years and had been a member of Lomax Township Board. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and listening to Johnny Horton songs.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra, three children, Jennifer Huffman of Orlando, FL, Christopher (Laurin) Huffman of Port Byron, IL and Sara (Jordan Merritt) Huffman of Lomax and five grandchildren.
Mr. Huffman was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dick and David Huffman and one sister, Delores Norton.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Pastor Maxine Dennison officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be in the Crane Cemetery, Lomax. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Banks & Beals where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Huffman’s memory.
