FMMS girls stay undefeated with wins last week

FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison 7th grade girls’ basketball team played a make-up game last Friday on the road against Fairfield.

The A team ran their record to 6-0 on the season with a 34-24 road win. Lauryn Helmick led all scorers with 15 points, followed closely by Aija Jenkins with nine points. Ieisha Coleman scored four points and Gracie Blind, Madelyn Gobble, and DeLanee Seay chipped in with two points each. Jenkins added eight steals and Helmick pitched in with five. Helmick and Gobble grabbed six rebounds each.

The girls also got a pair of wins Feb. 12 at Edward Stone.

The A team moved to 5-0 on the season with a 28-9 road win. Aija Jenkins led all scorers with 12 points, followed by Delanee Seay with five points. Madelyn Gobble and Gracie Blind each chipped in with four points while Taylor Johnson pitched in with two points. Seay added six steals while Jenkins, Seay, and Gobble grabbed seven rebounds each.

The Fort Madison B team won by a score of 17-12. Ieisha Coleman led in scoring with 10 points while Alexis Whaley added three points. Haley Lampe, Emma Kern, and Mackenzie Rainwater each added two points. With the win, Fort Madison’s B team moved to 5-0.
