FMMS 7th graders go undefeated at 17-0

FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison 7th grade girls’ basketball teams finished their seasons undefeated last night with two wins at home against Washington.

The 'A' team won by a score of 36-15 and were led by the scoring duo of Lauryn Helmick and Aija Jenkins with 12 points each. Taylor Johnson and Madelyn Gobble each scored four points. Gracie Blind and Alexis Whaley rounded out the scoring with two points each. Johnson led in rebounds with nine and Helmick chipped in six steals and five assists. With the win the A team finishes at 9-0 on the season.

Fort Madison won the B game by a score of 26-4. They were led in scoring by the trio of Amy Yasenchok, Haley Lampe, and Paetyn Wiegand who all had six points. Ali Carson and Ieisha Coleman chipped in with four points each. With the win the B team finished 8-0 on the season.

On Monday the 7th grade girls’ basketball team won two make-up games at Ottumwa. The A team won by a score of 49-12. Ieisha Coleman led a balanced offensive attack with 12 points. She was followed closely by Lauryn Helmick and Aija Jenkins with 10 points each. Taylor Johnson scored 8 points, Madelyn Gobble had six points, Gracie Blind had two points, and Amy Yasenchok chipped in with one.

Fort Madison won the B game by a score of 25-4. Haley Lampe and Alexis Whaley each scored six points to lead the Bloodhounds. Amy Yasenchok scored five points, Ali Carson scored four points, Mackenzie Rainwater and Paetyn Wiegand each chipped in two points to round out the scoring.
