FORT MADISON - Every month during the school year, WGEM News honors an outstanding Tri-States teacher and, this month, Charisse Purchatzke was awarded the television station's Golden Apple Award.

Charisse Purchatzke started her teaching career with FMCSD 33 years ago and has been a Bloodhound ever since. She has stuck with kindergarten throughout her career because she, “loves this age!”

This award goes to those who have made a difference in the lives of their students and have made a mark on our community.

Purchatzke has undoubtedly met this requirement. She inspires her students and colleagues each and every day. She encourages them to become the best version of themselves, to think outside of the box, and dream a little bigger.
