Schneider 3rd in 400 at Silver Streak invitational

MONMOUTH - Junior Quentin Schneider captured 3rd place in the boy's 400 meter run to lead the Fort Madison Bloodhounds at the Silver Streak Last Chance Invitational Saturday in Monmouth.

Schneider's time of 54.72  was just .04 seconds from second-place finisher Melcon DeJesus of Kewanee.

Junior Matt Hellige captured a fifth-place finish in the 3200-meter run with a personal record 10:27.19.  A full 24 seconds ahead of his time at the Silver Streak last year. Hellige also took 6th place in the 1600-meter run at 4:52.40 just two seconds off a personal record.

Freshman Katie Dennis had the top finish for the girls at the meet with a 12th-place spot in the 400-meter dash at 1:09.41.

Freshman Raquel Schneider captured 13th place in the 800-meter run at 10:91 and sophomore Reyna Lampe took 13th in the 60-meter hurdles at 10.91.

Fort Madison's boys 4x200 relay of Brock Califf, Andrew Schaefer, Tate Johnson and Quinton Ross took eighth place with a 1:41.42.

The Bloodhound boys 4x400 team of Schneider, Quinton Ross, Michael Mosena and Garrett Hannum posted a 10th-place finish with a time of 3:49.36

Other top finishers for the boys included a 12th-place finish in the high jump for senior Sheymouhr Redd-Donald, who just joined the squad this week. Redd-Donald cleared 5'-4" before faulting out.

Junior Michael Mosena took 13th in the 400 dash at 57.40

"It was another good meet for the team," said co-head coach Chad Hannum "The members of the 4x800 team showed what being a team is all about. Three of them had never run an 800- in a meet before today. The team needed them and they stepped up"

Other event placers included: Long jump - Jacob McGowan 18'-1" PR (16th); Mosena 17'-4" (23rd); Shot put - Ethan Deacon 39'3" PR (23rd), Alec Craft 38'-5" PR (26th); 3200-meter run - Hayden Wolfe 11:25.94 PR (20th); 4x800 relay (Matthew Meierotto, Bryce Britton, Gavin Wiseman and Mikey DiPrima) - 10:55.21 (18th); 60-meter hurdles - Isaiah Miller 10.97 (27th), McGowan 11.15 (29th); 60-meter dash - Calem MacLearn 7.87 (27th), Dom Frantz 8:21 (33rd); 800-meter run - Garrett Hannum 2:14.44 (16th), Macaden Rhoer 2:34.29 (32nd); 1600-meter run - Hayden Wolfe 5:29.62 (30th); 200-meter dash - Trey Kuntz 26.77 (28th), Joey Dodson 29.22 (37th).

For the girls, other event finishers included: 60-meter hurdles - Olivia Williams 12.20 (28th); 60 meter dash - Kylie Cashman 9.17 (35th), Dayln Wondra 10.58 (49th); 800-meter run - Lauren King - 3:00.85 (31st); 4x200 meter relay (Lampe, Williams, Cashman, Wondra) 2:10:52 (19th); Shot put - Cashman 27'-7" (25th-T), Wondra 27'-7" (25th-T); 400-meter dash - Raquel Schneider 1:12.03 (22nd); 200-meter dash - Lampe 29.91 (18th), Dennis 30.93 (25th); 4x400 - 5:03.02 (18th)

Last week at the seven-team Pekin Indoor Invitational at Central College, the Hounds had three second place finishes. Wolfe, Meierotto, Schaefer and Hellige took second in the college distance medley in 12:31.09. Schaefer Wiseman, Hellige and Wolfe earned 2nd in the 4x400 with a time of 4:09.46 and Redd-Donald cleared 5'-8" for a second place in the high jump.

Other top finishers included: Spring medley (MacLearn, Mosena, Califf, and Hannum 1:46.37; California Mile (8x200 relay) Frantz, Kuntz, Schneider, Hannum, Meierotto, MacLearn, Ross and Mosena 3:29.60 (3rd); Long jump - Mosena 17'-9.25" (4th); Shot put - Alec Craft 37'8" (4th); 55-meter shuttle hurdle - Califf, Schaefer, Johnson and Ross 28.79 (5th); Long jump - Califf 17'-9" (5th); Shuttle Hurdle - Hannum, Schneider, McGowan and Miller 42.75 (6th), 55-meter hurdles - Miller 10.6 (7th)
