Virginia Ann McKoon, 74, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2019 in Denton, TX. She was born on September 1, 1944 in Hannibal, MO to Paul & Mabel Edna Atkinson Ingalls. She married Ronald L. McKoon on June 1, 1963 in Ankeny, IA.

He preceded her in death on April 18, 2009. She was a member of Joy Baptist Church and Chapter 947 of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter in Fort Madison. She was a caregiver for 10 years to her husband, enjoyed crocheting and was an adoring grandmother.

Virginia is survived by: 1-son: Phillip (Guinda) McKoon of Booneville, MS; 1-daughter: Frances (Mark) Bishop of Denton, TX; 2-grandchildren: Lydia Bishop of Denton, TX & Paul (Rachel) Bishop of Denton, TX; 2-great grandchildren: Sean & Zion Bishop; 2-brothers: Robert (Carla) Ingalls of Eau Claire, WI & Richard Ingalls of Bolivia; 1-sister: Frances Sims of Moline, IL & several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents & husband.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Joy Baptist Church. The funeral service will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Earl Beal officiating. Burial will be held at Soldiers’ Circle in Oakland Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Fort Madison Chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America or Joy Baptist Church.
