FORT MADISON - It would seem that Fort Madison YMCA Executive Director Ryan Wilson, and Tri-State Public Radio's Jason Parrott, and Steve Ireland of Case New Holland are in the driver's seat in the annual Beat the Editor NCAA men's basketball bracket challenge.

Parrott, and last week's winner Noah Jenkins, lead all players in points with 154 through the third round of scoring. Since the 4th round hasn't been completed as of this update, any 4th round points have not been added to the totals.

Jenkins has 16 potential points left with only Michigan State left in his final four and a Gonzaga/Purdue title game. Both of those teams are eliminated.

With Virginia beating Purdue, Parrott has three of his final four left with Virginia beating Gonzaga in the title game. He has a potential of 144 points remaining.

Ireland is a sneaky pick to finish with the top points having three of his final four still alive and he has a Kentucky/Mich. St. title game with Kentucky winning giving him 176 potential points remaining.

Wilson, with just 118 current points has only two teams left in his final four - Duke and Kentucky. However, that happens to be his championship game with Duke winning. Wilson currently has 118 points, but has a potential of 160 more in the Duke/Kentucky scenario. But if Duke and Kentucky both lose, he could be out of the money all together.

Here's why. The Editor has 120 points currently, with the left side of the bracket intact with Texas Tech/Michigan State and Michigan State in the title game losing to North Carolina. That gives him a potential of 64 more points for 184. If Duke and Kentucky lose, Wilson's got a blown bracket.

Currently those ahead of the editor include Todd Guzman with 138 points, followed by Carol Arnold with 132, Steve Ireland and Chad Ward with 126, Austin Rose has 124 and Brenda Graham and The Editor with 120 points.

Here's who's still in the running for the money, and most scenarios would put quite a few people in position to beat the editor if Duke beats Mich. State later today.

Jesse Smith is hanging on with a Duke championship. He has 84 points, but a potential of 112. If Mich. St. loses to Duke he could pass the Editor. Bobby Holtkamp of Holtkamp's Floors Decor & Furniture, Lee County Bank's Chad Ward, Austin Rose and Carol Arnold could also end up ahead of the Editor if Duke beats Michigan State this afternoon.

A full update will come later tonight after the Duke/Mich. St. game which tips off at 4:05 p.m. CST. Kentucky/Auburn begins at 1:20 p.m. CST.
