United Way looking for volunteer gardeners

FORT MADISON - The United Way of the Great River Region is looking for volunteers to help work the Community Garden behind Hy-Vee.

Those interested in doing outdoor work and like plant and harvest food are encouraged to volunteer for this worthwhile effort that helps feed underserved families in Lee County

The United Ways' RSVP program is seeking individuals this Spring who will plant, cultivate, and harvest produce from our Community Garden located at 2606 Avenue L, Fort Madison.

Volunteers must enjoy working outside, gardening and harvesting. The work may require some bending, stooping and lifting of 10 lbs. or less and would require one hour two times a week.
