STOCKWELL

He was born on November 1, 1940 in Keokuk to Floyd and Josephine “Betty” Mathis Stockwell. On July 9, 1966 he married Helen Smutzer in Ft Madison and she passed away on December 28, 2013. Larry retired from Sheaffer Pen Co. after forty plus years of service. During his time at Sheaffers he also worked for Lee County Ambulance for over twenty five years and then was a driver for Artic Glacier for a few years. He served his country in the US Army. He was grateful for his experiences in helping others in their time of need and the friends he met along the way. He was quick with a laugh and slap on the back and he never met a stranger. Larry enjoyed his get togethers with cousins and the girls from his class. His greatest strength was that of devoted and loving father and grandfather. He rarely missed a school or sporting event. His grandchildren could always count of his encouragement and praise.

Survivors include one son, Shawn (Jan) Stockwell of Ft. Madison; one daughter, Carrie (Sean) Hulett of Burlington; ten grandchildren, Deonna Sheets, Randi Brooks, Aimee Chadwick, Abigail Stockwell, Dion Keasling, “Little” Larry Keasling, Joe Russell, Jasmyn Hulett, Jacob Hulett and James Hulett; four great grandchildren; one sister, Sharon (Dean) Bradley of Montrose; one brother, John Stockwell of Keokuk; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a son in infancy.

Friends may call after 2 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at King-Lynk Funeral Home where the family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 10:30 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Jon Heyland officiating. Burial with military rites performed by the Ft. Madison Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
