Bloodhounds 4th at rare Illinois meet

MONMOUTH - The Fort Madison Bloodhound boys track team made a rare outdoor trip to Illinois to compete in the 14th Annual Monmouth-Roseville Titan Invitational Monday night.

The Bloodhounds took 4th place out of 12 teams led by the 4 x 400 team of Brock Califf, Garrett Hannum, Andrew Schaefer, and Quentin Schneider with a time of 3:39.29, good enough for first place overall.

In addition, the Hounds had four 2nd-place finishes. Matt Hellige set a personal record in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:43.48. The junior also took 2nd in the 3,200 meter run with a mark of 10:21.30.

In an event that doesn't exist in Iowa, Schneider earned another 2nd for the Hounds with a 44.75 time in the 300-meter hurdles, and the Bloodhounds 4x200 relay squad of Califf, Redd-Donald, Mikey DiPrima and Schneider placed second with a time of 1:38.74.

Hannum put up a 5th-place finish in the 300-hurdles with a mark of 47.37 and then through up his best time of the season in the 800 at 2:11.47.

Andrew Schaefer raced to a 5th-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.48.

Gage Fullenkamp nailed down 6th place in the 110 hurdles with a mark of 20.72, while Isaiah Miller was right behind in 7th at 21.84.

Ethan Deacon placed 8th throwing a personal best 40-11.5 in the shot and the 4x800 team of Dom Frantz, Bryce Britton, Hayden Wolfe, and Macaden Rhoer took 7th with a mark of 10:33.67.

Other notables: Cuyrin Ross through the discus 100-9, which was a personal best for him and Fullenkamp ran the 400 in a personal best 1:01.60.

In other events, Gavin Wiseman ran the 200-meter dash in 27.60 and Califf finished at 25.53. Alec Craft heaved the shot 38-4.
