Central Lee's Hawk wins Lee County tourney

FORT MADISON - Central Lee's Jadon Hawk shot a 9-over par 81 on a cold, blustery Friday at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course for medalist honors at the Lee County High School Golf Tournament.

Central Lee won the tournament with a team score of 370 by 13 strokes over Fort Madison. Holy Trinity Catholic had at team score of 391 and Keokuk with a 392 on the 18-hole, par 72 course. Keokuk's Alex Wolter was runner-up medalist with an 86 playing with the No. 2 golfers.

Wolter and Hawk had the only birdies on the days. Hawk birdied the par 4 slight dog-leg right 17th hole, while Wolter birdied the par-3 No. 8 hole.

Holy Trinity had some success on the 14th with Colby Bredemeyer recording one of only two pars on the hole and the wind pushing shots to the left fareway most of the day. Wolter had the other par on the up-hill, down-hill west-to-east hole. But Brandon DeLaney came through in the No. 6 group and recorded the tournament's only 3 on the hole.

Holy Trinity's Josh Barr was fourth, also playing the second group with a 90 all the way around. Fort Madison's Tommy Wade was the top player for the Hounds with a 19-over 91.

Other top 10 finishers included Central Lee's KJ Skow was third on the day coming in with an 87. FMHS senior Brandon Keester show a 94, Kyle Bredemeyer carded a 96 for HTC for 7th.

Other Bloodhounds included Blake Algrim, playing in the No. 4 group with a 97, Tyler Wade shot a 101, Max Slater carded a 107 in the No. 5 grouping and Logan Rashid rounded out FMHS players with a 108.

For Holy Trinity Catholic, Trevor Mohrfeld, playing in the fourth grouping shot a 24-over 98, Mason Holvoet scored a 107, Brandon DeLaney shot a 108 and Colby Bredemeyeter shot a 111 for the Crusaders.

Holy Trinity plays host to Central Lee at Sheaffer's on Monday beginning at 4 p.m.

Fort Madison travels to Washington for a triangular with the Demons and Fairfield on Tuesday at the Washington Golf and Country Club.
