Gerald E. Hobbs, 90, of Ft. Madison passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 4:21 PM at his home.

He was born December 8, 1928 in Kenwood, MO to Ernest and Edith Boring Hobbs, Sr.  On November 12, 1949 he married Elenora Baxter in Burlington and she passed away on September 9, 2005.  

HOBBS

Gerald was a draftsman and engineer for Sheaffer Pen Co. and retired after forty two years of service.  He was one of the charter members of the American Hemerocallis “Daylily” Society and the Cedar Valley Iris and Daylily Club.  He was also a member of the Great River Garden Club, the Southeast Iowa Pigeon Club and was also a boy scout leader.  Gerald was an avid gardener and spent anytime he could outdoors doing what he loved.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

   Survivors include two sons, Steve (Kim) Hobbs of Ft. Madison and Scott (Melissa) Hobbs of Montrose; five grandchildren, Andrea (Pete) Nixon, Amanda (Jared) Rehm, Matthew Hobbs, Ben Hobbs and Sarah Hobbs; five great grandchildren, Alexis Rehm, Neeley Rehm, Maddilynn Hobbs, Audrey Nixon and Harrison Hobbs; one brother, Terry Hobbs of West Point; nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, Joyce “Joy” Campbell and a brother Ernest.

   The family will meet with friends on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 9:30-11 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home and Crematory, a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
