Hounds put three on all-southeast soccer team

FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison Bloodhounds have put three players on the Southeast Conference, all-conference squad released today.

Seniors Justin Bowker and Reuben Eid both made the squad as did junior Austin Sexton. Sexton was second in the loop with 42 points behind player of the year Nathan Rauenbuehler of Mt. Pleasant with 52. Sexton had 18 goals which was also second in the conference to Rauenbuehler who had 21.

Eid had 10 goals and 25 points, both fifth best in the conference. He had a 52.6% shot on goal average hitting 10 of 19 shots he took during conference play.

Bowker was a key in the Bloodhounds defensive scheme and was recognized for his efforts on the defensive side of the field. He also spent 200 minutes in the net allowing just five goals against 23 saves on the year.

Forward Brody Rung and keeper Javier Trejo were both given honorable mention.

Bowker, along with Dalston Jones, AJ Nolting and Miguel Trejo were all honored with Academic All-Conference designations.

The Hounds finished the year 3rd in the Southeast Conference play with a 5-3 mark behind Fairfield with a 7-1 mark and Mt. Pleasant with a 6-2 mark.

They won three of their last four matches and were bounced from the post season by 10-0 by Cedar Rapids Xavier after shutting out Washington 3-0 in the first round.
