WEST POINT - The Holy Trinity Catholic junior varsity softball team got a 6-5 win over West Burlington/Notre Dame 6-5 Tuesday night. The win avenges the only junior varsity loss this year for the Crusaders.
Mary Hellige was the winning pitcher going six innings with seven strikeouts. Hellige also had a single and a run scored.
Brooke Mueller had a single, double, one run scored and 3 RBI. Her game-winning double came with the bases loaded in the 5th inning scoring three runners on the hit.
Kayla Box had a single and a run scored. Hannah Torgler had two singles and Kelli Meierotto had a single.
The junior varsity squad is now 5-1 on the season.
In the junior high contest, HTC lost 14-5.
Rachel Menke was the losing pitcher going five innings. Menke also had a single, walk and run scored. Mueller had a walk, triple, rbi, and a run scored. Box had a single and a walk. Laura Mehmert had a single, walk, and two runs scored.
