Task force makes felony methamphetamine bust

Derek Alexander Westwater, 34, of Keokuk, Iowa was arrested on June 7th, 2019 at South Lee County Probation and Parole Office on felony drug charges. Westwater is charged with two counts of delivery of more than five grams of methamphetamine, class B felonies with enhancements for the sale within 1000 feet of a park, second or subsequent offense.

The arrest of Westwater stems from an investigation by the Lee County Narcotics Task Force into allegations that he was involved in the distribution of illegal drugs in the Lee County area.

The Lee County Attorney’s Office, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Probation and Parole Office, and the Keokuk Police Department assisted the Lee County Narcotics Task Force in this investigation.

The defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The Lee County Narcotics Task Force is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Justice and the funds administered by the Iowa Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy.
