HTC junior varsity continues to stack up wins

FORT MADISON - The Holy Trinity girls junior varsity squad downed Columbus Junction 5-3 Thursday to improve to 10-1 on the year.

Mary Hellige got the win going seven innings striking out eight batters. Hellige also had a single, double, RBI, and run scored. Anna Sobzcak had three hits with a double, RBI and run scored. Halie Cain had two hits, a steal and a run scored. Kelli Meierotto had a single with 2 RBI and a run scored. Hannah Torgler had a double, and Brooke Mueller had a single and run scored.

In the junior high contest, the Crusader downed Columbus Junction 11-7 and they now stand at 9-4 on the year.

Cain got the win going two innings allowing four runs. Rachel Menke came in for the save going three innings allowing three runs with three strikeouts. Mueller had a triple, single, and two runs scored. Jenna DiPrima had two hits, 2 RBI, two runs scored and two steals. Menke, Cain, Hellige, Kayla Box, Jenna Hellman and Alexa Dingman each had a hit.

On Monday, HTC's junior high girls split a home double header vs Cardinal Eldon.

HTC won the first game 9-6. Menke was the winning pitcher going six innings with six strikeouts. Teagan Snaadt had a single and run scored. Halie Cain had two singles, a walk and three runs scored. Breanna Peterson had two singles, a walk and three runs scored. Mueller had a single and run scored. Kayla Box had a single, 3 RBI and a run scored. Laura Mehmert had a single and 2 RBI. Jenna Hellman had a single, and Clara Blint had an RBI.

HTC lost the 2nd game 12-4. Hellige took the loss pitching five innings with six strikeouts. Breanna Peterson had a triple and run scored. Laura Mehmert had a double, run scored and 2 RBI.
