Richard Paul Brasfield, 81, of Ft. Madison, passed away on Friday, July 5, which was his daughter, Joni’s birthday at 4:10 PM at The Madison.

BRASFIELD

He was born on January 16, 1938 in Ft. Madison to George and Marie Sallen Brasfield.On March 5, 1960 he married Gloria “Jean” Nelson in Burlington.Dick worked at Crandon Paper Mill for forty two years.He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and Iowa Hawkeye football.

   Survivors include his wife Jean Brasfield of Ft. Madison; one daughter, Janet (Garrett) Long of Houston TX; three grandchildren, David Wellman, Colleen Long and Preston Long; one son-in-law, Brian Wellman of Ft. Madison; one sister, Carol (Arlin) Clover of LaHarpe; two brothers, Michael (Norma) Brasfield of Wever and Thomas (Jeanette) Brasfield of Ft. Madison; several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Joni Wellman.

   The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 11 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home with Reverend Les Featheringill officiating.  The family will meet with friends from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM.  Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
