James F. Jinkens, 78, of Ft. Madison passed away at 1:50 PM on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the Great River Hospice House.  He was born on August 5, 1940 in LaJunta, CO to James O. and Montressa Burchett Jinkens.  

JINKENS

On May 15, 1959 he married Loretta Vickers in Keokuk.  Jim retired as foreman from Sheaffer Pen Company with thirty-three years of service.  He then worked for Burrows Packaging and retired from there after nine years. Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church for fifty-seven years and was very active in various church activities.  He loved to go camping, fishing, hunting and listening to Blue Grass music.  He was also involved in genealogy and enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Jinkens of Ft. Madison; two daughters, Kathleen (Kurtis) Delpierre of Bondurant, IA and Sarah (Steve) Blodgett of Burlington; one son, Dale (Kristie) Jinkens of Grain Valley, MO; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one brother, Norman “Pete” (Kitty) Jinkens of Mt. Sterling, IL; two sisters, Lynda (Ken) Mellinger of Mediapolis and Patricia Holland of Burlington; several nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Sharon Cruze and a son, Jimmie Jinkens.

Friends may call after 2 PM on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at King-Lynk Funeral Home where the family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM.  The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, July 11, 2109 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Graber officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.  A memorial has been established for First Baptist Church and online condolences may be left at www.kinglynk.com
