WEST BURLINGTON - Fort Madison's Cassie Powers had one of her best outings of the year in a 1-0 make-up win at West Burlington Monday night.

Powers retired the first 12 hitters she faced and then gave up a double to the Lady Falcons Elise Oleson to start the fourth. She would get the next three batters to pop out to leave Oleson stranded at second.

Senior Vanessa Golowach would single to open the Bloodhounds half of the third inning and would swipe second and then come around to score on Olivia Williams two-out single to right field for the only run of the game.

Powers would give up two more hits, one each in the sixth and seventh, but the Lady Falcons couldn't get anything going offensively. Reagen Engberg singled to center with two outs in the seventh to put the tying run on for West Burlington, but Lauren Summers would fly out to Golowach in center to end the game.

The Lady Hounds also were held to just three hits, two from Williams including the game-winning RBI, and the single from Golowach.

Powers threw 92 pitches and struck out eight in the win moving her to 7-7 on the year. Summers also struck out eight for West Burlington on 88 pitches in the loss.

The Lady Hounds improve to 14-16 on the year and have won three in a row. They take on Davenport West in a junior varsity/varsity doubleheader for senior night with the varsity game starting at 7 p.m.
