Mr. Ronald D. Van Niewaal, 84, of Burlington, IA, formerly of Lomax, IL died at 1:06pm Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, IA.

VAN NIEWAAL

He was born Oct. 25, 1934 in Pella, IA, the son of Fredrick J. and Icyle LaVeta Smith Van Niewaal. On August 24, 1957 he married Patricia A. Hartley in Pella.
Mr. Van Niewaal graduated from the Pella, IA High School and served in the US Navy from 1951 - 1954. He was a licensed plumber and began working with his father and later continued on his own. He was a member of the Union Local 63, Peoria, Il. He was also a member of the Lomax Haunted House Boys club.
Surviving are his wife, five children, Vikki Bowers of Lomax, Randy (Chi) Van Niewaal of Burlington, Rod (Jeannie) Van Niewaal of Gulfport, IL, Ronnie Walker of Fort Madison, IA and Melissa Walker of Fort Madison, 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda and his half-brother.
