FORT MADISON – The Fort Madison Area Chamber of Commerce is coordinating a volunteer Community Beautification Day in an effort to spruce up visible areas prior to the first American Cruise Line ship docking on August 6.

The target areas will be Riverview Park, Avenue H along Riverview, and Avenue G and will consist of picking up trash, planting flowers and removing weeds, sweeping sidewalks, as well as touching up paint, to name a few.

The Beautification Day will be held on Monday, August 5th at 9 a.m. with a meeting location of the Fort Madison Partners Office located at 614 9th Street. Duties will be assigned as people arrive. Gloves, trash bags, and all needed supplies will be provided.

“This Beautification effort is extremely important for our community. We want to show American Cruise Lines that they picked the right community to dock in. We have one chance to make a great first impression and I know we can do it!” says Savanna Collier, Chamber Coordinator.

If you are able to help, please call the Chamber at 319-372-5471 to let them know. The Chamber is also looking for flower donations for Riverview Park.

The Fort Madison Area Chamber of Commerce is an affiliate organization of Fort Madison Partners.
