LEE COUNTY - Health care professionals from FMCH will be onsite at area schools to provide Athletic Screenings for student athletes on Thursday, Aug. 1 at Central Lee Schools, K-8 Building from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; and on Friday, Aug. 2 at Fort Madison High School from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

These athletic screenings will meet the state requirement for sport participation and include a physical exam; vitals including blood pressure, height, weight, body mass index and blood sugar; strength, concussion baseline (if needed), range of motion and posture screening all provided by FMCH healthcare professionals.

Appointments can be made online at www.fmchosp.com or by calling 319-376-2249. All necessary forms need to be completed and signed by a parent or guardian. Forms can be found on the school websites or on www.fmchosp.com under the Community & Wellness tab. There is a $25 charge for the screening. If you are unable to participate in the screening on either of these dates, student athletes can come to the FMCH MyCare Walk-In Clinic for their screening – again, all forms must be completed and signed by a parent/guardian. MyCare Walk-In Clinic is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Athletic Screenings do not take the place of an annual wellness exam with your child’s Pediatrician or Family Practice Provider. Pediatricians are specially trained to meet unique healthcare needs of adolescents. From the latest in vaccinations preventing meningitis, hepatitis and cervical cancer, to the prevention of sports injuries and chronic diseases – pediatricians are here to keep teens healthy and safely participating in their busy lives.
