Kiwanis Back-to-School fair gives families a hand up

Posted

FORT MADISON - The Fort Madison Kiwanis Club's Back-to-School Fair provided much needed school supplies and information to close to 100 local students on Saturday morning at the Fort Madison High School Multi-Purpose Room.

In addition to school regular school supplies such as pencils, paper, notebooks erasers, school bags, crayons, glue, scissors and markers, the Kiwanis, through local donations, were able to donate 84 pair of tennis shoes and 84 pairs of socks to registered participants.

Vouchers for hair cuts were also handed out and those vouchers are good for one month.

The Salvation Army provided boxed lunches and water to students, families and volunteers.

Anyone wishing to donate to the efforts can still do so by donating at either elementary and middle schools.
