Leland Maurice Robinson, 66, of Keokuk, IA died Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at his home.

He was born April 8, 1953 in Keokuk, IA the son of Leland Sr. and Doris Thomas Robinson. Leland graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1972. He had been employed by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a conductor for thirty-nine years until his retirement in 2011. Leland was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and Living Word Ministry both in Keokuk.

Leland enjoyed blues music and often traveled to blues festivals. He was a dedicated member of the Rollin on the River committee in Keokuk for more than twenty years. He loved working in his garden and took pride in growing vegetables and sharing his freshly picked crop with his family and friends. Leland didn’t know a stranger. He met and had many friends while here on Earth. Leland loved to fish and several times went deep sea fishing. One of Leland’s passions was traveling to different countries such as Ireland, Jamaica, Mexico, Belize and the Dominican Republic. Most important in Leland’s life were his six grandchildren and having them over to hang out. He often traveled to Colorado to visit his two grandsons. They were all the love and joy of his life.

Leland is survived by one son, Leland Robinson III (Jody) of Colorado Springs, CO, one daughter, Heather Curfman (David) of Carthage, IL, five grandsons, Leyton and Lincoln Robinson both of Colorado Springs, CO and Austin, Cameron and Colin Curfman all of Carthage, IL, one granddaughter, Madison Curfman of Carthage, IL one brother, Mark Robinson of Quincy, IL, four sisters, June Walker (Jerry) of Keokuk, Lelia McCane of Keokuk, Marjorie Robinson of Keokuk and Merri Wells (Darrell) of Keokuk, many nieces and nephews, and special friends including, Buck Clay, Tyann Brewer, Tyjah Clay, Tayshaun Clay and Taylon Clay.

He was preceded in death by his fiancé Rossella Kay, grandson, Brendon Robinson, his parents, brother, Carlton Robinson and sister, Maria Abbey.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Tyrone Seay and Reverend J.T. Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.

Visitation will be held after 1 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2019 at the funeral home with family meeting with friends from 5-7 p.m.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rollin on the River or Pink Heals Western Illinois.
