Lady Hounds' Powers, Williams named first-team all-conference

Golowach, Dennis make second team with Keokuk's Arrowood and Thompson

FORT MADISON - The Southeast Conference all-conference selections for softball were released today with either a Fort Madison or Keokuk player on each of the list.

Olivia Williams and Cassie Powers were both named first team all-conference. Ironically enough, Powers and Williams made up the pitching/catching combo for the Bloodhounds many nights.

Williams led Fort Madison at the plate with a batting average of .398. She also led in on base percentage at a clip of .483, slugging percentage at .469 percent, hits with 39, tied for first in runs with 18 scored and was second on the team in RBIs with 14.

Powers, the Hounds’ ace, led in every pitching category with a 3.618 ERA, 1.337 WHIP and collected 103 strikeouts with a final record of 6-8. Powers also finished in the top five on the team in hits on the season and was top five in RBIs with 11.

Vanessa Golowach and Kaitlyn Dennis both made the second team all-conference list for Fort Madison, while Abby Arrowood and Abby Thompson from Keokuk also finished on the second team list.

Golowach was third in hitting for the Bloodhounds with a batting average of .338, fourth in OBP at a .420 clip and was third in slugging percentage at .380. She also finished third on the team with 24 hits on the year. Dennis was fifth on the Bloodhounds with a batting average of .321 and was second with an OBP of .457. She was also the second-best pitcher in Fort Madison’s rotation, finishing the season with a record of 6-7. She had a final ERA of 3.614, a WHIP of 1.479 and collected 41 strikeouts.

Allison Helmick and Maycee Featheringill were named honorable mention, while Keokuk’s Gracie Koeber and Erika Kruse were also named honorable mention. 

Five different Bloodhounds made the academic all-conference list. Ivy Geerdes, Vanessa Golowach, Cassie Powers, Olivia Williams and Dalyn Wondra were all named to the academic list for Fort Madison, while Gracie Koeber made the academic list for Keokuk.
