James Henry Wagner,age 81,of Fort Madison, died on Friday, August 9, 2019 at his home.He was born on September 11, 1937 in Fort Madison, IA, the eldest son of Gus and Josephine (Krogmeier) Wagner.Jim graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1955.

He married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Pollpeter, on May 18, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Madison.Theybegan theirmarried life in Chicago where he worked as an electrician apprentice for three years.In 1960 they returned to Fort Madison, where he worked for Chevron Chemical Company for 25 years, retiring in 1986.

       Jim was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; and was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Wagner; son, Scott Wagner; and his parents.  He is survived by daughter, Jill (husband Eric) Weiler of Tyler, TX; son, Todd (wife Lisa) Wagner of Georgetown, TX; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Weiler) Reese, Lindsey Wagner, and Kayley Wagner; two great-grandchildren, Annabelle Reese and Ryan Reese; and his siblings, Collette (husband Jay) Vonderhaar, Frank (wife Janice) Wagner, Joyce (husband Leroy) Sanders, Mary Jo (husband Kelley Joe) Clark, and Lynn (husband Neal) Dodd.

       He enjoyed the outdoors and spent time gardening, golfing, and fishing.  He also enjoyed woodworking and spent many years building furniture and refinishing antiques. 

       The family will meet with friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 with a memorial service to immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.   Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery.  Memorials may be sent directly to the charity of your choice in Jim Wagner’s memory.  Online condolences to Jim’s family may be left at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory website: www.kinglynk.com.
