Catherine “Kit” Elizabeth Hayden, 64, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday, September 7, 2019 at her home.
She was born on May 31, 1955, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth “Betty” Wise Hayden. She was the only girl and one of six children.

She graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1973. While in high school she began to discover her love of music as she participated in band, marching band and choir.
After completing high school, Kit began her career in music as a guitarist and vocalist at many gigs in local venues including the Red Garter in Keokuk and Charlies in Montrose. She also was a Disc Jockey at the Palace in Keokuk.
A few years later, Kit moved with her mother to Las Vegas, NV where she remained for over thirty years. Having her daughter, Elizebeth, receiving a college degree in paralegal studies and being a part of several popular bands were just a few of the accomplishments she had there.
Kit was an avid musician. She played the guitar, sang, wrote her own songs and enjoyed listening to music. Kit’s name will be added to the Musician’s Memorial in Victory Park in Keokuk. She also enjoyed reading and loved watching the Rodeo Parade. Her grandchildren were the love of her life and she treasured the time she was able to spend with them. Kit was a loveable, warm-hearted person. She was a kind soul with a heart that knew no limit and loved freely. She lived life through her love of music and family. She will be missed.
She moved back to Iowa in 2015, first to Des Moines, then to Keokuk. She was ecstatic at being surrounded by loved ones again including her brothers, Tom (Mindi) Davis of Keokuk, and Tim (Jennifer) Davis of Poplar Grove, IL, her nieces and nephew, Michael Davis, Mandy, Cole and Luke Davis and Ryan Davis as well as her great-nephews, Bentley and Dayton. She was excited to reconnect with her step-sister, Rose Ross of Mahomet, IL
She is also survived by her daughter, Elizebeth Hayden of Georgia, her son-in-law, Adam Collins and her grandchildren, Dennis Baker and Lauralie Hayden, as well as her nieces and nephews in Las Vegas, Linnea “Naya”, Stephen and Joseph “Jay” Hayden, her sister in-law Karen Hayden of Las Vegas and of course all her friends that became family, including, Robert and Marci Skinner, Corky Miller, Diana Moulton, Paul Benedict, Craig Ewing and Al Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Joe Hayden, Ray Hayden and Howard Davis.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate her life, love and spirit.
The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is assisting the family with arrangements.
