Hellige 2nd at Van Buren Invite

VAN BUREN - Holy Trinity Catholic's Matt Hellige ran a 17:18.78 5K Tuesday night for second place overall at the Van Buren Invitational Tuesday evening.

Hellige was the Class A champion all four years and was 2nd overall in 7th grade and 1st in 8th grade at the run. Hellige trailed only Davis County's Kenny Cronin who ran the course at 16:08.18.

Jacob Mohrfeld was second across for the Crusaders with a time of 21:34.45 good for 45th overall, followed by Mitchell Pothitakis at 21:50.07 (51). Chandler Rung was right behind at 56th with a mark of 22:05.41.

The fourth and fifth best for HTC were Jacob Pothitakis and James Scheetz who finished 62nd and 63rd with times of 22:30.38 and 22:37.15. Wyatt Hellman wrapped up the HTC runners across the line at 24:06.45.

In the 2000 meter junior high run, Tate Green took 8th overall with a time of 8:49. Adam Sobszak was right behind at 8:50. Sheldon Kruse was 16th with a time of 9:19, while Luke Hellige and Edward Schroeder were neck-and-neck in the run with times of 10:11 and 10:12. Connor Gehling was next across for HTC with a time of 11:14. Maddex Rung was 55th overall with 11:58.
